A man has been convicted of fatally stabbing another man in Dublin while serving a suspended sentence for the manslaughter of his sister. Derek Boyd was found guilty of murder by Dublin’s Central Criminal Court. The incident occurred during a late-night altercation at Boyd’s residence, resulting in the death of Mark Carroll from three stab wounds. Despite fleeing to the UK after the incident, Boyd’s defense argued that his prior suspended sentence compelled him to avoid returning to prison. Boyd’s girlfriend, Chantelle Harcourt, faced accusations of obstructing the prosecution. The jury could not reach a verdict on some of the related charges. Boyd is set to receive a life sentence at his sentencing next week.
