The King brushed off a fly while the Queen chuckled upon receiving a large knitted radish during one of their final appearances before the summer break. This event took place at the Sandringham Flower Show, a long-standing tradition on the royal estate in Norfolk now organized by the Royal Horticultural Society, with the King as its patron.

A highlight of the day was the unveiling of the ‘RHS Legacy Garden,’ a project that symbolizes the King’s enduring love for gardening and his commitment to promoting rural skills and biodiversity using locally sourced materials.

Arriving at the venue in the Victoria Carriage to a warm reception, the royal couple graciously greeted the public, led by RHS President Keith Weed and director general Clare Matterson. The King, visibly pleased, inspected the garden he co-designed with Catherine Macdonald, exuding a countryside ambiance.

Throughout the event, the couple paused frequently to engage with the enthusiastic crowd. The King, in a summer suit, shared light-hearted moments with well-wishers, while the Queen, in a stylish green dress, interacted with attendees and received a thoughtful insect repellent gift.

During the show, the King presented awards to deserving recipients, including the ‘Kings Biodiversity Award’ and ‘Best Exhibit in the Floral Marquee Award.’ Meanwhile, the Queen handed out accolades such as ‘The Queen’s Choice of Upcycled Containers Award’ and recognized the efforts of young designers.

The royal pair also took time to chat with schoolchildren and admirers, sharing anecdotes and exchanging pleasantries. As they bid farewell to the event in their carriage, the Queen was seen admiring a knitted radish, reminiscing about her past involvement in the Pony Club.

Before heading to Scotland for the summer, the royals have one more official engagement. The RHS Sandringham Flower Show, a showcase of expert growers, nurseries, and community initiatives, marks a significant milestone as the first RHS Show hosted at a royal residence.
