“Prince Harry’s UK Security Decision Delayed”

Prince Harry is currently awaiting a decision regarding his security arrangements in the UK, as officials are currently occupied with ensuring the protection of nine former Prime Ministers.

The Duke of Sussex was previously informed that a risk management board would be established by the end of 2025 to reevaluate his need for automatic protection during his visits to the UK. However, the scheduled review by an independent body in March has been delayed.

The delay is attributed in part to the challenge of providing high-level security for politicians, including the nine former Prime Ministers. To manage the workload, officials have temporarily suspended the process for approximately four months.

A source familiar with the Risk Management Board process expressed concerns about the temporary pause, stating that it is crucial to allocate more resources to address the backlog rather than halting the assessments altogether. The source emphasized the importance of protective security measures in safeguarding public figures from potential threats.

Furthermore, there have been reports indicating that protective security in the country has suffered from underfunding and strain for an extended period. The redeployment of highly trained close protection officers to fulfill other policing duties has raised questions about the prioritization of protective security measures.

Following his decision to step back as a working member of the royal family, Prince Harry was informed that he would no longer receive automatic police security. He is now required to provide advance notice before each visit to the UK, with his security status being assessed on a case-by-case basis.

During his recent visits to the UK, Prince Harry has not been granted full protection, and he lost a legal battle against the Home Office in May of the previous year.
