The UK is bracing for heavy rainfall on Tuesday following a weekend of sunny weather, according to the latest forecast from the Met Office. A band of low pressure moving from the west is expected to bring persistent downpours, with the most intense rain predicted for south Wales and the Southwest of England.
Showery outbreaks of rain are forecasted for northern and western areas on Tuesday, becoming more widespread in the evening and potentially causing disruptions across parts of the Midlands and Northwest England. However, this unsettled weather pattern is temporary as temperatures are set to rise gradually throughout the week, reaching highs of 27-28C by Friday, with the warmest conditions expected in the East of England.
Heavy rain is expected on Tuesday, accompanied by low cloud cover and coastal fog in the Southwest of England. Rainfall will start in Cornwall, north Devon, and along the Welsh coast early in the day, intensifying as it moves northeastward later in the morning.
Weather charts suggest widespread and heavy rain during the afternoon and evening, with central England likely to experience soaking showers by around 8.30pm, extending from Greater London to Cumbria. Showers are expected to persist over Scotland. The rainy conditions will ease into showers overnight, primarily affecting the southwest coast of England into Wednesday morning.
While the southeast is expected to remain mostly dry with clear spells and light winds on Monday evening, other regions can anticipate dry and brighter weather on Tuesday. The southeast of England is likely to enjoy the best of the warm sunshine, avoiding the gloomy outlook seen elsewhere.
