A significant airport closure was linked to a spectacle that occurred during Donald Trump’s 80th birthday bash for cage fighting.

Despite his absence, the Saturday night event marked the commencement of UFC Freedom 250, with the official weigh-in for the fighters set to battle on the White House South Lawn the following evening. The kick-off festivities, hosted by podcast sensation Joe Rogan, showcased performances by The US Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, country rock artist Zac Brown, and an American Bald Eagle that soared above the enthusiastic crowd of approximately 10,000 attendees. Complaints arose regarding the bright lights emanating from the White House lawn and Ellipse park, causing distraction to airline pilots approaching the nearby Ronald Reagan National Airport.

The airport’s decision to halt all flights may have been triggered by a stunt where a parachute team descended with an American flag near the Washington Monument. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the grounding of flights at Reagan Airport due to a “special event or air show,” triggered by the stunt. During the incident, Trump was returning from a golf outing and MAGA supporter dinner at Trump National Golf Club, Virginia.

The upcoming Sunday evening will feature a full lineup of Mixed Martial Arts bouts, including two title fights. Approximately 5,000 invited guests, military members, and Trump administration officials will witness the fights in the Octagon cage from the South Lawn seating. For other enthusiasts, there will be a “Fan Fest” on the Ellipse, offering various activities, including photo ops, bar services, strength-testing machines, truck demonstrations, and a bar exclusively serving Monster energy drinks. Attendees can also interact with a group of female models at the same bar.

Diego and Daniel from Florida shared their excitement for the event, expressing admiration for UFC and historical occasions. They marveled at the spectacle, likening it to a movie with planes flying over the White House. Another unnamed friend of theirs commended the showmanship, stating that Trump was celebrating freedom in a captivating manner through UFC.

Michelle and Andy traveled from Wisconsin to Washington DC on Saturday but chose not to attend the event due to Andy’s disapproval of the President. Andy criticized the event as a circus at the taxpayers’ expense, emphasizing his discontent with the situation.
