Britain is preparing for another round of early summer heat, as the latest Met Office weather maps indicate temperatures reaching the high 20s in parts of England and Wales later this week. London and nearby areas could see temperatures soaring to 28C by 4pm on Friday, with southern and central England experiencing temperatures above 20C.

The Met Office’s temperature maps for June 19 show the warmest conditions focused on southeast England, while Scotland and Northern Ireland remain cooler. By 7pm, London is forecasted to still be at 27C. Manchester is expected to reach 21C, with Cardiff slightly lower at 20C, although the warm weather is not expected to last.

On June 19, rainfall maps suggest wet weather moving into southwestern UK regions, with showers and rain spreading northeastward, bringing cooler conditions and dampening the warmth. The southwest and Irish Sea coast are expected to experience the heaviest rain.

As the rain arrives, temperatures are forecasted to drop significantly. While some eastern and southeastern regions may remain warm, maximum temperatures are likely to peak around 26C on June 20. The Met Office’s outlook through Friday indicates a mix of rain clearing to sunshine and showers, with the northwest expecting more rain compared to the drier and warmer southeast.

Looking ahead to June 19-28, the Met Office predicts the potential for hot and humid weather in southern and southeast Britain, with a chance of thunderstorms. The forecast suggests a shift to drier and settled conditions later in June with temperatures remaining above average. However, the persistence of hot conditions will depend on the orientation of high pressure systems.

The Met Office warns that long-range forecasts beyond five days are subject to atmospheric uncertainties and external influences that can impact weather patterns in the UK and Ireland.
