A man of Jewish descent was hospitalized with facial and back injuries following an alleged assault by five masked individuals. The incident took place at a residence on The Grove in Golders Green, North London, around 2 am on Monday. The victim, a 22-year-old Jewish male, sustained cuts and bruises and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Metropolitan Police have disclosed that no arrests have been made so far in connection with the incident, which is being investigated as an antisemitic hate crime. The perpetrators, reportedly five masked men, pursued and subsequently attacked the victim.
Shomrim, a community-based Jewish volunteer patrol group, expressed deep shock and concern over the assault. They emphasized the distress caused within the community due to the increasing anti-Semitic incidents and violence. The organization reiterated the unequivocal rejection of anti-Semitic behavior in society.
Confirming that the case is being treated as a racially and religiously motivated offense, the police are actively investigating with the assistance of the Hate Crime Unit. Shomrim has cooperated closely with law enforcement, providing CCTV footage relevant to the incident for the ongoing investigation.
To ensure community safety and support, additional patrols have been deployed in the area by Shomrim. The police were alerted to the assault at The Grove, NW11, at 02:05hrs on Monday, May 18. The victim, a man in his twenties, was promptly attended to by officers and later sought medical attention for injuries sustained during the attack.
The assault is under investigation as a hate crime, with no arrests made at this stage. Police continue their inquiries and urge anyone with information to contact them referencing CAD 542/18MAY.
This incident follows a series of violent occurrences in Golders Green involving the Jewish community. Notably, Essa Suleiman faced charges of attempted murder for allegedly targeting individuals in Golders Green on April 29.
