Shocking new video footage has emerged, capturing the tragic moment when a plane caught fire during a fatal crash that claimed the lives of 15 individuals. The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the incident that occurred on November 4, 2025, in Kentucky.
During takeoff at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, a UPS jet’s engine and pylon detached from the wing, leading to the deaths of three crew members and 12 individuals on the ground. The aircraft involved in the crash, a 34-year-old McDonnell Douglas MD-11F, was en route to Hawaii.
The distressing video shows a fiery explosion engulfing the plane, leaving behind a significant debris field. Following the crash, all MD-11 aircraft were grounded by the FAA for several months.
The NTSB is convening a hearing in Washington this week to determine the cause of the collision. Among the victims on the ground were individuals such as Angela Anderson, Carlos Fernandez, Trinadette “Trina” Chavez, Tony Crain, John Loucks, John Spray, Matthew Sweets, Ella Petty Whorton, Megan Washburn, Louisnes Fedon, and his 3-year-old granddaughter Kimberly Asa.
Alain Rodriguez Colina, who sustained severe injuries in the crash, passed away on Christmas Day. UPS identified its employees Capt. Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Capt. Dana Diamond as the three crew members onboard the ill-fated flight.
Reports indicate that the plane was carrying 38,000 gallons (144,000 liters) of fuel at the time of the incident. Pablo Rojas, an aviation attorney, described the aircraft as akin to a bomb due to the substantial fuel load.
The inferno consumed the large aircraft and extended to nearby establishments. Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the night to contain the blaze over a vast area and conducted search operations for potential victims.
