Health authorities are closely monitoring a new Ebola virus outbreak in Africa that has already spread to other regions. Ebola, known for causing fever, vomiting, and severe bleeding, can be fatal within a day of infection.

Reports from the country’s health ministry indicate that over 130 individuals have died, with more than 500 suspected cases in the current Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo. An American citizen who was working in the DR Congo has tested positive for the virus and has been transferred to Germany for medical care.

In response to the situation, six individuals identified as high-risk contacts are set to be relocated to Europe for strict quarantine measures. Amid global concerns over the escalating health crisis, a US doctor who previously contracted Ebola in 2014 expressed alarm, stating that the current outbreak appears to be more extensive than official figures suggest.

Having survived the virus himself after treating patients in Guinea, the doctor emphasized the urgency of the situation. He also mentioned the challenges faced by the infected American doctor and highlighted the lack of a definitive treatment for Ebola.

The doctor, who now works in emergency medicine and teaches public health, criticized the US government’s decision to withdraw from the World Health Organization, noting the implications for responding to the Ebola outbreak. US officials have pledged support for combating the disease, with plans to establish treatment centers in the affected region.

The US withdrawal from the WHO has led to a significant reduction in the organization’s workforce, raising concerns about its ability to effectively address health crises. Experts have warned that such actions could contribute to future pandemics, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in combating global health threats.
