A massive group of 10,000 passionate England supporters is making its way to Dallas to attend the team’s World Cup opening match against Croatia on Wednesday.

Included in the crowd are the families of England players, who secured 1,000 tickets for each group stage game. Football stars Anthony Gordon, 25, of Barcelona, and Declan Rice, 27, the captain of Arsenal, expressed their eagerness for the upcoming matches.

Gordon, participating in his first World Cup, shared his anticipation of hearing the national anthem before the game. Rice, serving as England’s vice-captain, highlighted the excitement of the first match after a long wait, emphasizing the importance of savoring the experience.

The England Supporters Travel Club distributed tickets to approximately 3,315 members, while an additional 7,618 dedicated fans secured seats through FIFA’s website. The impressive Dallas stadium, with a reduced capacity of 70,649 from its usual 80,000, is expected to host thousands of expatriates, enhancing the fan presence.

During ITV’s tournament coverage, two devoted England supporters received recognition for their loyalty, with former player and coach Gary Neville acknowledging their commitment. Robert Didd, a dedicated fan attending every England home game since 1986, reflected on his extensive journey following the national team, emphasizing the enriching experiences gained.

As preparations for the match intensify, fans like civil servant Garford, 64, from London, are embarking on unique travel experiences to reach the stadium, with some opting for long bus journeys through various cities to witness the game. Thomas Concannon, leading the Fans’ Embassy service, highlighted the diverse experiences encountered en route to the stadium, praising the dedication of England supporters.

The extreme heat forecast for the match has prompted attendees to prepare by carrying water, ensuring a comfortable experience. Fans like Chris Thomas, originally from Leeds and now residing in Kansas City, are navigating logistics to reach the stadium on time, balancing excitement and cautious optimism for England’s performance.

George Smith, an Exeter City fan based in San Diego, California, is attending the England group games with supporters from different parts of the world, reflecting the global appeal of the tournament. With plans to bring his family along, including his son and Mexican-born wife, George is looking forward to potential matchups in the tournament, showcasing the unity and diversity among fans.
