A significant police presence, including a SWAT team and numerous armed officers, responded to an incident near the location where England is scheduled to begin their World Cup journey. Arlington Police vehicles were seen lining West Division Street in Texas, close to AT&T Stadium, where England will play against Croatia in two days.
According to an officer at the scene, the situation was described as “quite serious” as a suspect had brandished a weapon. Police deployed snipers, an armored BearCat vehicle, and drones to the area, with a substantial number of officers dispatched.
A spokesperson for the Arlington Police Department confirmed that authorities were addressing a domestic dispute between a man and a woman at a residential address. The female resident was barricaded inside the home with others, but no injuries were reported despite a weapon being involved. The suspect is now in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
There is no indication that the incident was related to the World Cup or posed any threat to the tournament or its venues.
