In a gripping moment, a van driver assisted armed police in apprehending a fleeing suspect by offering an officer a ride during a foot pursuit in Kent. The driver stopped as armed officers chased a wanted individual in Thanet and instructed an officer to get into the back of the van.
Following reports of a serious assault, police responded to the scene where the suspect eluded officers and ran towards Tivoli Road. The armed officer quickly entered the black van, leaving the sliding door open, and guided the driver through the pursuit.
“Go, go, go! Cheers buddy. Follow that police officer,” the officer directed as the driver accelerated behind the suspect, eventually pulling up in front of the fleeing individual. The armed officer swiftly exited the van, drew his weapon, and successfully apprehended the suspect.
The unidentified driver observed the arrest and received gratitude from officers with a handshake for his assistance. Expressing his experience, he mentioned, “I am just glad I could be of service. That was quite exhilarating.”
