A British TikTok influencer, Brooke George, is facing potential execution by firing squad in Dubai for the alleged murder of fellow Brit Bill Treeby. George, known for her social media presence with around 100,000 followers on TikTok, reportedly met Treeby online and traveled to the UAE after connecting on Facebook.
It has been uncovered that Treeby had a criminal record, having been previously convicted of unlawful wounding and common assault in December 2023 at Maidstone Crown Court. He received a suspended prison sentence for attacking a woman and a man. Additionally, Treeby was due to stand trial for drug-related charges after being arrested for allegedly participating in a cocaine supply conspiracy, involving a significant amount of drugs and cash.
Following a violent altercation during her second visit to Dubai, George claimed self-defense, alleging that Treeby had assaulted her, leading her to grab a kitchen knife to protect herself. Despite her attempts to leave the country, she was apprehended at Dubai International Airport. George recounted a distressing experience of being denied legal representation and forced to undress in front of male officers, causing significant distress.
George’s mother, Thereza, expressed deep concern for her daughter’s well-being and emphasized her desperation to return home. Meanwhile, Treeby’s widow mourned the loss of her husband, describing him as a beloved family member.
Detained in Dubai’s CEO, Radha Stirling, is advocating for George’s release on bail, urging authorities to view the incident as a case of domestic abuse. Stirling highlighted the increasing reports of women, including influencers and models, being deceived into exploitative situations in Dubai, emphasizing the need for better protection of vulnerable individuals.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed its engagement with the detained British woman and her family, indicating ongoing support and communication with local authorities.
