A man is facing charges for the murder of a British charity worker in Athens after her body was discovered in a suitcase. The accused, Sharif Ahmadzai, had previously shared social media posts criticizing what he described as corruption within Christian organizations. Ahmadzai, who converted to Christianity and ran a charity with his wife, will appear in court for the alleged murder of Elisabeth-Jane Ross.

The victim, originally from Edinburgh, had met Ahmadzai and his wife through their charity work supporting homeless people and refugees in Athens. CCTV footage showed Ahmadzai allegedly wheeling a suitcase believed to contain Ross’ body through the city center. Despite his social media rants about corrupt NGOs, Ahmadzai faces charges related to the murder, including withdrawing money using the victim’s credit cards.

Ahmadzai, who hails from Afghanistan and settled in Greece, was arrested after police, in collaboration with UK authorities, traced the victim’s mobile phone to his location. While Ahmadzai has admitted moving the victim’s body, he denies the murder charge. His wife, Alaina Hall, who reportedly raised suspicions about his behavior, has been cooperative with the investigation.

Family members of Hall expressed concerns about Ahmadzai, with her aunt revealing reservations about their relationship. Meanwhile, Ross, known for her humanitarian work, was remembered by her community for her dedication to helping the less fortunate. The tragic incident has garnered support from various organizations and authorities, with condolences extended to Ross’ family during this difficult time.
