The incident occurred as the rocket was being prepared for a static fire test to fuel its New Glenn rocket for an upcoming mission scheduled for June 4. Video footage shows a detonation at the base of the rocket, followed by smoke rising up the shaft and an explosion at the tip of the spacecraft, engulfing the vessel in flames.
