The father of a slain teenager expressed deep sorrow upon learning that the perpetrator of his son’s murder was seen bragging about the crime in a rap video shot within his prison cell.

Jay Stewart, aged 19, was recently given a life sentence for fatally stabbing 16-year-old Kayden Moy on a beach in North Ayrshire, Scotland, in May 2025.

In the two-minute video recorded in HMP Polmont, Stewart can be observed wearing a t-shirt over his face, rapping about the murder, and making threats of future violence upon release.

Responding to the video, Kayden’s father, Paul, conveyed his devastation at the leaked footage showing Stewart, the convicted killer of his son, singing and appearing to boast about the tragic incident. Paul expressed the profound grief of losing Kayden and the lack of remorse displayed by the responsible individual.

The video, captured on a mobile phone by another inmate, features Stewart referring to the killing of “KM” or “Kayden” multiple times, emphasizing his violent tendencies and ambitious plans for the future. Stewart, along with Cole Turley, 18, received minimum sentences of 16 years for the murder, while a 15-year-old boy was sentenced to at least 14 years. The fatal stabbing occurred on Irvine beach on May 17 after a confrontation where the teenagers pursued Kayden and fatally stabbed him when he slipped and fell.

During the sentencing of the three teenagers, Judge Lord Scott described Kayden’s death as senseless and avoidable.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Prison Service acknowledged the distress caused by such videos and reiterated their commitment to maintaining the security of prisons and preventing illicit items, including mobile phones, from entering the facilities. The spokesperson highlighted collaboration with law enforcement agencies to address security breaches.

Police Scotland confirmed ongoing investigations following a report of an online communication offense from HM YOI Polmont on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
