Hundreds of individuals gathered to commemorate a mother and her two daughters who were discovered deceased at their residence during a touching service.
A poignant memorial event for Nothabo Zandile Tshuma, aged 42, along with her daughters, Natalie aged 15, and Nala aged 5, took place at Bedford’s Corn Exchange in honor of their tragic passing. Nearly 500 attendees paid their respects. The inquest revealed that Zandile succumbed to head injuries, while Natalie and Nala both perished from blunt force head injuries.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, aged 45, is currently in custody in South Africa after his arrest in Johannesburg on suspicion of the murder of his wife and daughters. The service united relatives, friends, coworkers, and educators who reminisced about the trio and honored their lives.
In a moving address to mourners, Zandile’s cousin, Michelle Ncube, expressed, “Words are inadequate to convey the depth of our sorrow. We mourn the future that was taken from them and from us.” Recalling Zandile, Michelle highlighted her humor, intelligence, and love for gardening, emphasizing her nurturing nature towards both plants and people.
Michelle further described Zandile as wholly dedicated to her daughters, always considering their future in every action. A heartfelt message from Zandile’s sister in Zimbabwe was also shared, lamenting the irreplaceable loss felt by the family.
Bedford Girls’ School headmistress, Gemma Gibson, fondly remembered Natalie as a kind and diligent student who excelled in sports, participating in competitions 107 times. Nala’s teacher, Nikki Woodworth, praised her for her affectionate nature and legendary hugs.
The memorial ceremony was orchestrated by Jabu Ncube, a close friend of Zandile for two decades. Reflecting on the tragedy, Jabu struggled to articulate the incomprehensible loss, urging attendees to remember the deceased as angels.
Colleagues of Zandile at Forensic Risk Alliance in London lauded her exceptional professionalism, sharp intellect, and passion for her work. Meanwhile, Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma faces legal proceedings in South Africa for possession of unlicensed firearms and three murder charges authorized by The Crown Prosecution Service in the UK.
Funeral arrangements for Zandile, Natalie, and Nala are scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe in the coming week.
