A heatwave continues to impact the UK, with meteorologists anticipating the highest temperatures to occur tomorrow. The Met Office’s latest forecast projects highs of 35C in southern areas and 31C in the north today, with temperatures expected to rise to 36C in the south and 33C in the north tomorrow.
According to the GFS weather model, similar temperature peaks are predicted for tomorrow, with potential highs of 36C in southern and western England. Areas as far north as Yorkshire could experience temperatures reaching 33C, while the south-east, including London, may see temperatures up to 35C.
Temperature anomaly maps for tomorrow indicate that many parts of the UK will face significantly above-average temperatures, with deep red and black areas showing the extent of the heat.
The GFS weather model highlights that seven English counties could reach 36C tomorrow. Despite the warm conditions, the Met Office forecasts rain, possibly heavy, in the north-west on the following day, with a chance of showers elsewhere. However, conditions are expected to remain mostly dry and sunny.
On Saturday, the Met Office predicts highs of 35C in the south and 32C in the north, dropping slightly to 33C and 29C on Sunday. Over the weekend, an easterly breeze will bring clouds to eastern coasts, while the west will experience sunnier and hotter weather, with a chance of showers in the southwest on Monday.
The Met Office anticipates a gradual easing of the heatwave from next week, although temperatures will remain warm. It is expected that many areas will see temperatures in the mid-to-high 20s, above average for the season, with the warm conditions shifting further north and west as high pressure moves across the UK.
