A family consisting of a mother, father, and their nine-year-old son tragically fell from a tower block in south London onto another building before their untimely demise, as revealed in an inquest. The family members, identified as Aditi Vijay Paralkar, 46, a real estate property developer, Rakesh Narayan Pai, 47, and their son Sid Rene Pai-Paralkar, lost their lives in the incident that occurred at the Uncle residential tower on Churchyard Row in Elephant and Castle on May 27.

According to Detective Sergeant Simon Monga from the Metropolitan Police, the family fell from a height onto another building, and their bodies were later recovered by the London Fire Brigade. During the opening of the inquest, Assistant Coroner Michelle Haste disclosed that Ms. Paralkar and Mr. Pai succumbed to multiple injuries, while the cause of Sid’s death is still pending determination.

Emergency services responded to the incident at 7:29 am upon receiving reports of the fall, with all three individuals pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Haste noted that Mr. Pai was declared deceased at 7:43 am, followed by Ms. Paralkar at 8:05 am, and Sid at 8:06 am, with their identities confirmed using their passports found at their residence.

The investigation into the tragic event remains ongoing, with authorities awaiting the results of pathology and forensic examinations to establish the sequence of events. Awaiting a comprehensive report from a pediatric pathologist regarding Sid’s death, the inquest has been adjourned until the conclusion of the police inquiry.

Expressing understanding for the thorough investigation, Ms. Haste mentioned that she supports granting ample time to the police to delve into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Bermondsey and Old Southwark MP Neil Coyle informed residents that the police are not actively seeking any other individuals in connection with the incident as investigative efforts persist.

Mr. Coyle shared that the family resided on the 36th floor of the 45-storey tower block, having recently relocated to the UK. He highlighted that Sid, who had severe health issues including kidney disease and was being home-schooled, was born in the UK. The MP described the incident as a tragic loss for the family, emphasizing the distressing nature of the situation and the challenges they faced.
