A 10-year-old boy has been accused of attempted murder and rape for allegedly assaulting a woman while she was jogging in a park in France. The incident occurred in Gouëdic Valley park in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany.
Reports from French newspaper Le Parisien state that the woman was confronted by the young suspect, who demanded that she undress. When she refused, he purportedly stabbed her twice, once in the arm and once in the abdomen, before fleeing. Nearly a week later, the police detained a suspect matching the victim’s description.
According to Le Télégramme, investigators found a knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack, as well as clothing that matched the victim’s statement. While official documents indicate the boy is 10 years old, medical examinations suggest he may be older, possibly around 14 years old.
The suspect, who arrived from Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a year ago to live with his father, reportedly confessed to the crime during police interrogation.
