Bath’s renowned Royal Crescent has been crowned the UK’s most Instagram-worthy street, but residing there comes with a hefty price tag. Constructed in the 1760s and 70s, the crescent is distinguished by its graceful Georgian architecture and panoramic views overlooking the River Avon.
According to recent data from Halifax, properties on this street command an average price of £590,786, significantly surpassing the national average of £298,806 for a typical UK home. London’s Portobello Road, famous for its pastel-colored houses and vibrant market, secures the second spot, followed by The Street in the charming village of Castle Combe.
Edinburgh also makes its mark in the top 10, with Victoria Street and Circus Lane making appearances. Fortunately, one does not necessarily need a substantial budget to reside in a location worthy of social media attention. Elm Hill in Norwich boasts an average price of £235,822, while Eastgate Street in Chester stands at £263,811. The most budget-friendly street in the top 20 is Pier Road in Luss, where the average property price is £158,559.
High-end London destinations like Portobello Road and Kynance Mews lead the market with prices reaching £1.66 million and £1.45 million, respectively. The rankings by Lloyds are determined based on the frequency of appearance on Instagram and TikTok, as well as the number of location tags.
Amanda Bryden, Head of Mortgages at Lloyds, remarked, “Social media is reshaping how individuals explore new places and envision their future residences. The standout feature of these streets is their unique character, whether it’s the vibrant houses, historic buildings, or picturesque settings that compel people to share them.”
Bryden added, “It’s also encouraging to see a diverse range of locations. While some are premium streets in the UK, others are more accessible, underscoring that a substantial budget is not essential to discover a place that truly feels extraordinary.”
