A group of youngsters in Spain, accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, received a one-week suspension due to being below the criminal responsibility age limit. The alleged incident involving five or six classmates occurred at a birthday party outside their school in Burgos, northern Spain. The girl’s family reported the incident to the police last month, causing an investigation into the matter. The victim reportedly suffered trauma from the assault.

Police confirmed that the students involved were 11 or 12 years old, falling below the legal age for prosecution, which is 14. Education authorities in Burgos and the wider school community are aware of the case, with the police forwarding the investigation report to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s office. Although initially expelled, the accused students were allowed to return to school after a week, with measures in place to keep them separated from other students to prevent stigmatization.

In a separate incident, Spanish police are investigating alleged sexual assaults on multiple teenage girls during a cruise, where it is reported that their drinks were spiked. The Civil Guard in Barcelona mentioned that complaints were received upon the cruise’s arrival on May 1, involving potential adult perpetrators. While no arrests have been made yet, the suspects have been identified and located, with an ongoing investigation and court involvement to determine further actions.
