Two individuals lost their lives in a collision involving a TYU tourist bus and three vehicles on the popular holiday destination of Lanzarote. Following the tragic incident on the LZ-2 in the southwest of the island, two other individuals, including a five-year-old child, were swiftly transported to a hospital.
Photographs from the crash site depict the severely damaged TUI bus, its front section collapsed, and the windshield shattered, alongside the crumpled remains of a car. Among the casualties were an Italian couple who were traveling with an eight-year-old child in one of the cars. Additionally, a five-year-old child and a 36-year-old bus passenger were among the eight injured individuals in the accident.
Emergency response teams, including local police, Civil Guard, paramedics, and firefighters, promptly arrived at the scene following reports of the collision on the road connecting Playa Blanca resort with the town of Yaiza just before 7:45 pm the previous day.
A spokesperson from the emergency services stated, “A man and woman lost their lives in the accident. A five-year-old child, initially with a moderate elbow injury, was transferred to Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital by a medicalized ambulance of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).” The initial reports indicated a collision involving three cars and a bus, with firefighters securing the area, freeing the trapped victims from the involved vehicles.
It was confirmed that two occupants of the same vehicle succumbed to their severe injuries. Emergency responders also provided aid to a minor with moderate injuries, who was transported to the hospital by a medicalized ambulance. The bus was believed to have had eight passengers onboard, in addition to the driver. The deceased individuals from the car were reportedly Italian nationals residing in Lanzarote. Authorities were conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
