With seating for up to 92 customers, the branch aims to provide a familiar experience for travelers who often seek out familiar comforts while abroad.
Scheduled to open at Tenerife South Airport later this month, the Greggs outlet follows a trend of British establishments expanding overseas. The company, known for its wide presence in the UK with over 2,500 locations, views the airport as an ideal testing ground for venturing into international markets. Drawing inspiration from the success of Wetherspoons, which recently opened its first pub in continental Europe, Greggs aims to attract the roughly 6.5 million passengers traveling between Tenerife South Airport and the UK annually.
Roisin Currie, Greggs’ chief executive, expressed enthusiasm about introducing the brand to an international audience, emphasizing the affordability and popularity of their products. Positioned strategically in the departures area, the bakery is positioned to offer passengers a final taste of home before their journey. The partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, a global operator with over 5,000 stores worldwide, ensures a seamless integration of the Greggs brand into the Tenerife travel experience.
