Former US President Donald Trump is contemplating headlining a festival celebrating America’s 250th birthday, suggesting himself as the main act, dubbing himself as the “GOAT.” Trump, aged 79, expressed this possibility in a post on Truth Social, hinting at headlining the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington DC due to several prominent performers withdrawing from the event.
Trump hinted at potentially bringing himself, whom he claims surpasses Elvis Presley in drawing larger audiences, to fill the void left by the departing artists. He emphasized his love for the country and his portrayal as the “Greatest President in History (THE GOAT!).” Additionally, he mentioned plans for delivering a significant speech and hosting an “AMERICA IS BACK” rally in Washington DC, specifying that only “Great Patriots” would be invited.
Numerous performers initially scheduled for the 16-day festival, slated to occur from June 25 to July 10, have dropped out, citing misrepresentation of the event’s political alignment. The festival is orchestrated by Freedom 250, a nonprofit established during the Trump administration.
Artists such as Young MC, Morris Day, The Commodores, Bret Michaels, and Martina McBride have all withdrawn their participation. The Commodores, in an Instagram post, declared they would not perform at the fair, expressing their neutrality towards political affiliations and their commitment to the welfare of all Americans.
Martina McBride revealed that she was misled about the event’s nonpartisan nature, leading to her decision to opt-out of the festival. Despite the controversies, Freedom 250 maintains that it operates as a nonpartisan entity.
