The body of a teenager who was seen entering a lake in Leicestershire on the hottest day of the year has been found. Authorities were alerted just after 1.30pm to Meynell Lake in Fosse Way yesterday, with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service, and police divers joining the search. Leicestershire Police has now confirmed the recovery of a person from the water.
The family of the boy has been notified and is receiving support from specialized officers. Leicestershire Police stated that there are no suspicions of foul play, and a report will be compiled for the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
The police mentioned that the coroner will decide on releasing the victim’s identity. In a statement, they said, “Specialist police divers have located a person in the water matching the description of the teenager who entered the lake in Syston yesterday.
