A tragic incident occurred last week in the Caribbean as a passenger from Royal Caribbean lost their life while snorkeling. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was a traveler aboard the Star of the Seas cruise ship, the sole vessel docked at the port that day.
Reports suggest that the guest disembarked at the Caribbean island’s port to participate in a snorkeling excursion in St. Maarten’s beautiful azure waters alongside their family. Unfortunately, during the activity, the passenger encountered a medical emergency and was swiftly returned to Port St. Maarten for medical assistance. Regrettably, upon reaching the shore, they were declared deceased.
Following the fatality, the family of the deceased opted to have their loved one’s body placed in the ship’s morgue rather than arranging for repatriation from the island. Details regarding the nature of the medical emergency and whether the snorkeling tour was booked through the cruise line or an external vendor remain undisclosed at this time.
Royal Caribbean has been approached for comment regarding the incident.
