Maintaining cleanliness in my home is a priority for me, but there’s one area that often gets neglected – the kitchen sink.
The constant washing of dishes leads to food residue accumulating on the draining board, while unsightly watermarks start to appear on the sides of the sink. The tap is another spot that tends to be overlooked when it comes to cleaning.
Feeling it was time for a change, I decided to compare two affordable cleaning sprays to see which one would work better.
I visited a local Home Bargains store and purchased two products I had never used before – the Pink Stuff multi-purpose cleaning spray and the Elbow Grease All Purpose Degreaser.
The Pink Stuff spray was priced at 99p, while the Elbow Grease spray cost £1.19, making them both budget-friendly options.
To conduct a thorough test, I applied one spray to the draining board and the other to the sink and tap, which were in need of serious cleaning due to neglect.
Starting with the Elbow Grease spray on the sink basin and tap, I was surprised to find hard water stains on the stainless steel. The spray, labeled as a powerful degreaser, claimed to effectively cut through grease on kitchen surfaces.
Application was simple – spray on the affected areas and wipe clean. Stubborn stains might require a second application, as indicated on the bottle.
Initially, the Elbow Grease spray seemed effective, with a pleasant lemon scent and visible improvement in removing watermarks and grime. However, some marks reappeared later, prompting a second application which successfully eliminated most blemishes.
On the other hand, the Pink Stuff spray worked wonders on the draining board, effortlessly removing stains without the need for vigorous scrubbing. The surface remained shiny and clean even after some time had passed.
Both sprays had their strengths, but the Pink Stuff spray stood out as the top choice for achieving a pristine sink, all at a budget-friendly price.
