Horrified residents have likened a devastated Ukrainian residence to a “mass burial site” following a suspected deadly attack by a Russian missile that tragically claimed the lives of ten members of a single family.
The victims, reportedly including parents Artem Voronov, 47, and Olena, 41, along with seven of their children and an 18-month-old grandson, were caught in the strike. The incident occurred as Russian forces sought retribution for recent incursions by targeting the hometown of President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kryvyi Rih. The assault, which involved 70 missiles and over 280 drones, resulted in the destruction or damage of numerous civilian structures, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
President Zelensky was reportedly unaware of the family’s tragedy when he made his initial remarks. Reports indicate that two residences in Radushne village, situated in the Kryvyi Rih district of Dnipropetrovsk region, were severely hit. The children who perished in the attack were identified as Mark, 17; Dominika, 16; Viorika, 14; Zakharii, 13; Azarii Ilai, 11; Federika, nine; and Emilia, seven.
In addition to the children, the couple’s grandson, also named Artem, aged 18 months, lost his life in the tragic event. It is believed that the child’s father is a member of the Ukrainian military artillery. Matvii Voronov, one of the couple’s sons, reportedly learned about his family’s fate through a local online forum.
Rescue teams are still working to identify the remains of some victims. Voronov, one of the sons, inquired about his family’s well-being following the attack, only to be informed by neighbors that his parents, siblings, and young nephew had all perished in the bombing.
An elderly relative of the children revealed that the couple had ten children and three grandchildren. The youngest grandchild was visiting at the time of the strike and tragically lost his life alongside them. The family members were described as hardworking and dedicated to their children.
The strike obliterated two homes entirely and caused damage to five others. Despite not all bodies being recovered, relatives are certain of the family’s tragic fate. The attack was mourned as a heart-wrenching event, symbolizing the loss of innocent lives in a peaceful household.
