In India, a startling incident was captured on camera as a leopard entered a shop and leaped onto a worker. The wild animal had strayed from a nearby forest into a building in Todaraisingh, Rajasthan, causing chaos among the employees.
Co-workers were heard screaming as CCTV footage revealed the sudden attack by the leopard on a man in the shop. The worker grappled with the powerful feline before finally managing to shake it off and escape by scrambling over a table.
Inside the store, the leopard roamed around, knocking over bottles until authorities arrived at the scene. The big cat had injured three people in the area before it was tranquilized and removed during a five-hour operation.
Reportedly an adult male leopard aged between four and five, it first attacked a forest volunteer and then made its way into the busy market and eventually the liquor shop. One of the injured men, Rakesh Mali, suffered leg injuries while trying to inspect the area where the leopard was hiding.
Another worker, Fateh Lal Koli, and a man named Sanjay Gurjar, who was seen in the CCTV footage, also sustained injuries during the chaotic incident. Koli and Gurjar managed to trap the leopard inside the shop by pulling down the shutter from outside.
The injured were provided with first aid on-site, and the workers were taken to a medical center for further treatment. Authorities are investigating how the leopard strayed into the urban area, considering the significant leopard population in the forests surrounding Todaraisingh.
Leopards, being apex predators, are known to be highly dangerous but typically avoid human contact unless provoked or threatened. They exhibit impressive physical abilities, with adult males weighing up to 90kg and displaying remarkable agility and strength in hunting and defending themselves.
