A coastal hotel in south Devon that had been closed for renovations and was anticipated to reopen has reportedly entered administration. The Quayside Hotel, located in Brixham overlooking the harbor, shut down in late 2022 for extensive upgrades but failed to resume operations.
Administrators were appointed on June 5, as disclosed in a notice by The Gazette, the UK’s official public record. Richard J Smith & Co’s joint administrators, Jonathan David Trembath and Samuel Adam Bailey, are managing the process from the firm’s Ivybridge office.
The hotel, known for its historic waterfront setting, was set to unveil a new era after refurbishments. Despite plans for a grand reopening last year, the establishment never resumed business and is now under administration, as per BusinessLive.
Describing itself as an 18th-century establishment with picturesque harbor views, the Quayside Hotel highlighted its prime location in the heart of Brixham, close to the beach and town center. It offered various amenities such as four-poster beds, sea-view rooms, free Wi-Fi, and live entertainment. The hotel also featured a bar and restaurant overlooking the harbor.
Guests have praised the hotel, giving it a commendable 4.3-star rating on Google. Positive reviews highlighted the comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and excellent dining experiences. Visitors expressed their intentions to return due to the overall enjoyable stay at the charming and hospitable venue.
