A mother was shocked to find out that the man dating her 17-year-old daughter, who was also spending time with her baby at their home, was a registered sex offender, according to court proceedings.

Blake Moorhouse, aged 21, had previously received a three-year community order in March 2026 for engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old. Despite this, it was revealed in Preston Crown Court that he was misleading people about his new relationship with a 17-year-old at the time of his sentencing. Moorhouse claimed to feel remorse for his actions and promised to adhere to any court-imposed conditions, yet he was already violating restrictions on his contact with individuals under 18.

During the court hearing at Preston Crown Court, it emerged that the accused, hailing from Blackpool, had established an online connection with the teenager and had visited her and her infant. He had stayed in her bedroom, where the baby slept, on multiple occasions, even though the girl insisted that the relationship was not sexual.

Following an issuance of a sexual harm prevention order on March 6 that imposed further limitations on his interactions with children, Moorhouse misrepresented to his new girlfriend and her mother that his upcoming court appearance pertained to an assault charge, omitting the fact that he was a registered sex offender, as reported by Lancs Live.

Subsequently, he received a call from MOSOVO, the unit managing sexual and violent offenders, prompting the girl to grow suspicious and search online to uncover the truth. Moorhouse was instructed to vacate the premises, and the police were contacted. Upon realizing that law enforcement was looking for him, he turned himself in, according to court testimony.

The defendant, residing in Thornton-Cleveleys, admitted to six violations of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and notification obligations. Judge Robert Altham expressed regret over not incarcerating Moorhouse initially, given the seriousness of his past offense committed shortly after transitioning from a minor.

The judge rebuked Moorhouse for his dishonesty and manipulation in maintaining a relationship with a 17-year-old and her newborn, concealing his sex offender status. Judge Altham emphasized the necessity of immediate imprisonment due to Moorhouse’s failure to comply with court orders and his obliviousness to the risk he poses to children.

Moorhouse was sentenced to two years and four months for his initial offense involving a 14-year-old girl, with an additional six months added for breaching his SHPO and notification requirements.
