The nurse successfully extinguished the fire, preventing a potentially tragic situation. Despite sustaining burns to her head, the patient, a woman in her 50s, received timely medical attention and avoided serious harm, thanks to Emmanuel’s decisive actions.
Emmanuel’s bravery during the incident earned him a national award for his quick thinking and courage in protecting the ward from further harm. Images from the scene depicted the intensity of the fire that had melted the oxygen mask and tube, causing damage to the patient’s bed and the room’s floor.
