Police have shared new CCTV footage in connection with a homicide inquiry surrounding the discovery of a man’s body on a nature reserve.

Investigators are seeking a woman spotted walking a dog at Southampton Common, believing she may possess valuable information for their investigation. The renewed appeal follows the recovery of Ernest Konrad Deputat’s remains at Ornamental Lake on Southampton Common on October 8.

Authorities noted evidence of a significant fire at the scene, prompting the launch of a murder probe. Two individuals detained in relation to the case have been released on bail.

According to Hampshire Police, Mr. Deputat, a Polish national, was believed to have been living off the grid on the common, known within Southampton’s homeless community. The police released a new CCTV image, urging the woman seen walking a dog on Southampton Common on the morning of Saturday, September 6, to come forward.

Investigators stated that even if the woman had been previously interviewed, they wish to speak to her again based on new information and developments in the case. They encouraged anyone who was in the area on that morning, especially dog walkers, to reach out, emphasizing the importance of any information, regardless of its perceived significance.

Mr. Deputat’s family described him as a cherished brother and son, highlighting his humor and warmth that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. They expressed their deep affection for him and shared heartfelt messages, reminiscing about his presence and impact on their lives.
