A mother tragically passed away at a medical center after enduring a prolonged wait for an appointment, according to an inquest. Jacqueline Watkins, aged 66, had struggled to secure a doctor’s visit after feeling unwell for several days before finally booking a slot at her local GP clinic in Llanyravon, Wales. Reports from Gwent Coroners’ Court revealed that she collapsed while seated in the waiting area upon arrival for the scheduled appointment on Thursday, June 18.
Despite immediate medical interventions, Jacqueline could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the clinic. Her family expressed concerns over potential lapses in the medical care she received and called for a thorough investigation into the matter.
The inquest disclosed that Jacqueline had reached out to Llanyravon Surgery earlier that week when she fell ill at home. The earliest available appointment was at 3 pm on June 18, the day she collapsed at the clinic.
An initial inquest about her demise was conducted at Gwent Coroners’ Court, with no specific cause of death mentioned during the brief session. Area coroner Rose Farmer confirmed that a post-mortem examination had been carried out and a comprehensive inquest is scheduled for March next year.
Following Jacqueline’s passing, her daughter, Donna Evans, shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, describing her mother’s sudden death and the family’s profound grief. Friends and acquaintances also paid their respects, recalling Jacqueline’s warmth and kindness in their interactions.
