A father shared his harrowing ordeal after his three-year-old daughter was bitten by a venomous snake concealed under an Amazon delivery package. Manuel Barajas recounted the frightening incident that occurred at their residence in Santa Clarita, California. His daughter, Addy, was excited to retrieve a gift from the package when she was unexpectedly bitten on her left hand by a Southern Pacific rattlesnake lurking underneath.
Addy’s mother, Lynn, swiftly took her to nearby first responders at a supermarket parking lot, who then rushed her to a hospital for antivenom treatment. Following the incident, Addy spent two nights in a pediatric intensive care unit, undergoing additional rounds of antivenom therapy. Fortunately, she has shown significant progress in her recovery.
Barajas, who was away on business when the incident transpired, hurried back home to support his family. The family now faces substantial medical expenses from Addy’s hospitalization, antivenom treatments, and time in the pediatric ICU. Additionally, Barajas had to take time off work to care for his family post the snake attack.
