A distressing incident unfolded as a 12-year-old girl fled for safety following the alleged murder of her mother by her brother. The girl was spotted running through the streets of Perth, Western Australia, in her pajamas and robe shortly after emergency services responded to the family home nearby.
Authorities have confirmed the tragic death of the girl’s mother due to an alleged stabbing, with the 16-year-old brother facing murder charges. Detective Act Inspector Jessica Securo briefed the media on the morning of July 21, detailing the sequence of events.
The police received reports of a serious incident at a residence in Bentley early that morning, leading to the discovery of the deceased mother and the injured girl nearby. The teenage boy, identified as the son of the deceased woman and brother of the injured girl, was taken into police custody without any ongoing risk to the community.
The girl, found 600 meters away from her home, was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Inspector Securo expressed concern for the family and community impacted by the tragedy, emphasizing the girl’s need for privacy during the investigation.
