A man has confessed to hiding the body of a woman who was later found in a freezer, but he denies charges of murdering her and killing five guinea pigs.
George Gordon, aged 65, is facing allegations of the murder of Delia McInerney, whose body was discovered in a flat in St Helens, Merseyside, in January.
Appearing via a video link from prison at Liverpool Crown Court, Gordon, dressed in a grey jumper and jogging bottoms with white hair, pleaded not guilty to causing harm to protected animals by allegedly killing five guinea pigs.
It has now been disclosed that Gordon previously admitted to hindering a lawful burial and obstructing a coroner by concealing a body between April 2023 and January 2026.
Furthermore, he has confessed to three counts of fraud and theft related to Ms. McInerney but denies the charges of murder and animal cruelty involving the guinea pigs.
Ms. McInerney, who would have turned 64 when her body was found, hailed from Anfield, Liverpool.
In a statement released by the police post her demise, her sister Rita McInerney described her as an exceptional artist, a nonconformist, and a kind-hearted individual with a vibrant personality.
Expressing her sorrow, Rita stated, “She was cherished as a sister and friend. I will forever miss her.”
Gordon, residing in Gerards Court, St Helens, is scheduled to go on trial on October 12, with proceedings expected to span six weeks.
