A travel company from the UK has chosen to go into voluntary liquidation, resulting in the cancellation of all upcoming holidays. Gold Crest Holidays, situated in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, has officially ceased its operations after more than three decades in the industry. The family-owned business, known for organizing coach tours across the UK and Europe, expressed deep regret over the liquidation, attributing financial pressures as the primary cause.

Gold Crest Holidays, which also operated under various names like Advent, Advent Tours, and Overseas Dream Weddings, clarified that all future trips are now canceled. The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) will handle the refund process for affected customers. The company pointed to the significant impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, changes in key business agreements, and a challenging economic climate marked by rising costs as the factors leading to its closure.

In January, the company announced on its website that it had ceased trading, extending gratitude to customers, travel agents, suppliers, and employees for their support over the years. The decision to enter voluntary liquidation was described as a difficult one, influenced by the pandemic’s severe effects, alterations in key partnerships, and the tough trading conditions with escalating expenses.

A statement on ABTA’s website informed customers about the cancellation of all future packages, advising them to check with event organizers regarding the validity of their tickets for specific events. The notice also outlined the steps customers need to take for refunds, depending on their payment method and booking source. Travelers were encouraged to liaise with their travel agents or credit card issuers to facilitate the refund process.
