Nigel Farage kicked off his Clacton by-election campaign with a speech at a sparsely attended right-wing conference in London, far from the constituents he aims to serve. Addressing a diverse audience that included Tory and Reform UK MPs, as well as staunch right-wing supporters, Farage expressed his penchant for taking risks.

Presenting the keynote speech at CPAC GB, a UK version of a prominent American pro-Donald Trump event organized by Liz Truss, Farage drew the largest crowd of the day in a modest 500-seat auditorium. Despite the lack of turnout, he affirmed his candidacy in the Clacton by-election, highlighting the controversy surrounding a substantial gift he received from cryptocurrency tycoon Christopher Harborne.

Painting a grim picture of societal decline, Farage warned of a deteriorating Britain where basic accessories like watches and jewelry are eschewed out of fear of crime. He ominously predicted a trajectory towards becoming a third-world country within the next decade.

Taking shots at key political figures, he criticized Labour’s Andy Burnham for lacking a legitimate mandate for the Prime Ministerial role and called for an immediate general election. Farage also lambasted Tory leader Kemi Badenoch, accusing her of deviating from conservative values in government.

Facing competition from unconventional candidates like Count Binface, Laurence Fox, and Piers Corbyn in the upcoming by-election, Farage claimed to be under siege by the establishment due to Reform’s unexpected resilience. He challenged detractors, asserting that Reform would not falter despite attempts to undermine its credibility.

Additionally, the by-election will feature independent candidates with diverse backgrounds, including reality TV personalities and activists. Notably, major parties like Labour, the Conservative Party, Liberal Democrats, and the Green Party opted not to field candidates in this election.
