The family of a 24-year-old woman who tragically lost her life in her residence has expressed heartfelt sentiments for the young mother. Kirandeep Kaur, a native of India, was fatally assaulted at her residence in Hayes.

A man has been accused of Kaur’s murder. Speaking via a translator from the Majha region of Punjab, India, her sister Gursharan conveyed to the BBC that her sister meant ‘everything’ to her.

Gursharan, aged 21, mentioned that her sister had moved to London in search of better job opportunities to support their family. To assist with funeral expenses, a GoFundMe page has been established.

The fundraising message states: “Kirandeep Kaur, a 24-year-old student from Punjab, India, came to the UK with aspirations of a brighter future for herself and her family back home.

“Kirandeep’s unexpected passing has left her young child without a mother and her family in India devastated, grappling with sorrow and substantial debts incurred to secure her future.

“Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall is mobilizing the local community to provide practical and financial aid during this challenging period.”

Daniel Sean James, 46, purportedly assaulted Kirandeep Kaur, 24, at her residence in Hayes, west London, on the morning of July 12. Subsequently, he allegedly leaped out of a window, fracturing both ankles before being apprehended by law enforcement in the vicinity, as disclosed at the Old Bailey.

Before the incident, James reportedly traversed a playing field in Hayes dressed entirely in black and wielding a large knife.

Security footage and doorbell cameras captured him approaching three different residences before allegedly stabbing a man in his 20s in the back from behind.

Shortly thereafter, at approximately 7:51 am, he allegedly forced entry into the home shared by Mrs. Kaur with her husband and three-month-old infant while they were asleep in bed.

Upon hearing a scream from his wife, the husband witnessed a figure exiting the bedroom, stated prosecutor Charlene Sumnall. James purportedly exited the property on Uxbridge Road through a window in the kitchen-living room area, fracturing both ankles. After a brief attempt to flee, he collapsed after a short distance.

According to court proceedings, it took around 24 minutes from the first sighting of the defendant until the police arrived at the scene. Mrs. Kaur sustained a fatal stab wound to the chest and was pronounced deceased at 8:26 am.

The Old Bailey was informed that both victims were unknown to the defendant, who received medical treatment before being taken into custody. Subsequently, he was charged with the murder of Mrs. Kaur, attempted murder, and possession of a blade.

James, residing in Mercer Place, Pinner, west London, appeared via videolink from Wormwood Scrubs in Court One of the Old Bailey on Thursday. Judge Nigel Lickley KC scheduled a plea hearing for October 1 and tentatively set a three-week trial commencing on April 5 next year. James only confirmed his identity during the proceedings and was remanded in custody.
