EE has unveiled an enhanced version of its Scam Guard service as a response to the escalating threat of scams targeting mobile users. The upgrade, priced at £2 per month for all EE pay-monthly customers, aims to fortify protections against cybercriminals who employ various tactics to deceive individuals into disclosing sensitive information.

Despite the additional cost, EE assures subscribers that the upgraded Scam Guard offers significantly improved security measures. Since its initial launch in 2024, Scam Guard has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest version, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year.

The core of the new Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection system, which integrates three key digital safety components powered by Norton’s Genie AI technology. These features include Safe Email, providing continuous proactive scam monitoring for email accounts, and Safe SMS, utilizing advanced AI to identify sophisticated scams in text messages in real-time. Additionally, Safe Web safeguards customers from online scams while shopping or browsing by blocking malicious websites preemptively.

The upgraded Scam Guard also introduces the Scam Assistant tool, enabling users to submit screenshots of suspicious messages or websites for immediate evaluation. Moreover, the service includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring functionalities to detect and alert customers of any dubious activities across their online presence promptly.

Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the critical role of robust cybersecurity measures in combating the surge in fraudulent activities. He highlighted EE’s commitment to customer protection through continuous innovation and strategic partnerships, emphasizing the company’s dedication to providing top-tier cyber defense mechanisms with the enhanced Scam Guard service.
