This victory earned Canada a spot at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where flag football will make its debut as an event. Reflecting on the game, Tachinski described the experience as indescribable and surreal, emphasizing the emotional impact of the decisive interception.

Tachinski expressed his continued astonishment at the win and highlighted the anticipation of representing Canada at the upcoming Olympics. The prospect of participating in the Olympic Village and competing at such a prestigious event excites him.

Canada’s men’s and women’s flag football teams created history by securing spots in the 2028 Olympics, marking the sport’s debut at the event. The men’s team has strong connections to Winnipeg.

Canada’s women’s team also achieved Olympic qualification by defeating the U.S. 27-20 in a match that concluded their undefeated streak. Quarterback Sara Parker received the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award.

The 2028 Olympics will allow CFL and NFL players to participate in flag football, opening up new opportunities for athletes like Blue Bombers receiver Nic Demski, who expressed interest in potentially joining the Olympic team.

Team Canada head coach Paul LaPolice, a former Winnipeg coach, mentioned that decisions regarding potential additions from the CFL or NFL to the roster will be made in due course.
