The devastated boyfriend of a hiker who tragically lost her life in a vicious alligator attack has shared a poignant tribute, expressing his profound grief.

Brittany Clark, aged 31, was fatally mauled by the alligator while swimming in a Florida river with her partner, Chance Allison, 30, and a friend during a hike. Reports revealed that Chance bravely fought the alligator as it submerged the couple in a violent spinning tactic known as the “death roll,” a method the reptile uses to dismantle its prey.

In his first public statement since Brittany’s passing, Chance expressed his ongoing struggle to cope with her loss and pledged to care for her cherished pets. Taking to Facebook, he wrote, “Finding the right words is difficult, and it almost feels inappropriate to share anything. I am still in disbelief over what transpired. We had so many plans and memories awaiting us.”

“You were a truly exceptional person and didn’t deserve to meet such a fate. I love you, and rest assured, I will care for our pets forever,” he added.

Chance disclosed plans for a commemoration of Brittany’s life while expressing gratitude for the support he has received. He remarked, “The outpouring of support has been instrumental in helping me maintain composure as I navigate this difficult time.”

Brittany’s father, Robert, aged 57, recounted being informed of the attack as it happened. Speaking to the New York Post, he shared, “On that Sunday, Brittany’s roommate, Jayden Hernandez, called me and described the unfolding situation. They were doing everything they could to save her while awaiting assistance from the authorities.”

The tributes followed a harrowing 911 call capturing the frantic moments post-attack. During the call, Jayden described Brittany’s injuries as “horrific,” noting that “one arm was completely severed, and the other was barely attached.”

Pleading for urgent help due to severe blood loss, Jayden emphasized the need to stop the bleeding. In the background, screams and cries punctuated the distressing scene as efforts were made to rescue Brittany from the alligator.

At one juncture, Chance exclaimed, “both her arms, both her arms are gone,” while Jayden informed the operator that one arm was barely hanging on. When asked about Brittany’s other arm, the response was grim: “It’s gone.”

Later, Chance informed the operator that he and a friend had managed to pull Brittany from the water and urgently required assistance. He stressed, “We are off the main trail, at a small launch point near the river… Help is needed immediately!”

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Brittany succumbed to her injuries. Subsequent to the attack, officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission captured two alligators measuring 13ft and 12ft.
