Britain is set to experience heavy rainfall on Monday as warned by the Met Office. Weather maps from the Met Office indicate that western parts of Scotland and regions in the Northwest of England can expect heavy downpours. This shift in weather comes after days of sunny skies, with temperatures reaching 27.3C in Charlwood, Surrey, last Friday. However, temperatures will drop as a low-pressure system moves across the country, bringing cooler and wetter conditions, especially in western areas.

The Met Office’s forecast for Monday to Wednesday predicts rain in northern areas on Monday and Tuesday, while southern regions will become hotter and more humid with possible showers. Wednesday may see showers or longer periods of rain across the country. Temperatures are expected to fall from Sunday onwards, with western parts of the UK reaching around 17C on Monday.

Met Office Chief forecaster Chris Bulmer mentioned that warmer conditions will return to England and Wales early next week, accompanied by showers or even thunderstorms in some areas. While the south may see minimal rainfall, the north, especially parts of Scotland, could experience heavy rain buildup.

Recent reports from the Environment Agency revealed that over half of England has been under drought status, mainly affecting central, eastern, and southern regions. This declaration hints at potential water use restrictions in the near future.
