A man, Muhammad Ans, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping multiple women he met through dating apps. Ans, 29, was found guilty of four counts of rape against three women after a trial at Plymouth Crown Court. In addition to his jail time, he will serve an additional three years on parole and has been added to the sex offenders register for life.
According to court records, Ans targeted his victims on various dating platforms like Tinder, Bumble, and Baddoo between 2023 and 2025. One victim reported that Ans offered her $3,000 as compensation after raping her, urging her to keep quiet about the incident.
The first assault occurred in late 2023 after Ans contacted a woman on Bumble and subsequently raped her at his accommodation in Coventry. He then assaulted her again in early 2024. Despite the victim’s refusal, Ans persisted in trying to meet her, offering shopping trips and meals as a form of apology.
Ans later assaulted another woman he met on the Baddoo app in Tavistock, ignoring her refusal for sex. After the assault, he attempted to downplay his actions and offered to take her shopping, showing a clear pattern of manipulative behavior.
Following multiple charges and remands, Ans denied the offenses during a police interview but admitted to meeting the victims. Despite his claims of consensual contact, the victims’ testimonies and messages revealed a disturbing pattern of coercion and manipulation.
During sentencing, the victims shared the profound impact of Ans’ actions on their lives, detailing the emotional and psychological trauma they continue to endure. Judge Matthew Turner emphasized Ans’ predatory nature and lack of remorse, highlighting the lasting damage inflicted on the victims.
Detective Constable Craig Ferguson noted that Ans consistently used similar tactics with each victim, apologizing and attempting to buy their silence or forgiveness after the assaults. He described Ans as a sexual predator who disregarded boundaries and consent, preying on vulnerable women seeking meaningful relationships.
Despite the harrowing experiences, the victims demonstrated immense bravery in coming forward and sharing their stories. Devon and Cornwall Police reaffirmed their commitment to supporting victims of violence and sexual offenses, emphasizing the importance of standing with those affected by such crimes.
