Additionally, a study by the University of Copenhagen indicated that nearly a third of weight lost from these injections comprises muscle and bone density. Ceasing GLP-1 drugs leads to fat regain, while the loss of muscle and bone mass remains irreversible, complicating future weight loss efforts and increasing the risk of osteoporosis and frailty in later life.
The upcoming trial, led by UEA in collaboration with several universities, aims to address these challenges and provide a comprehensive approach to supporting individuals in maintaining weight loss.
