Following a peak of 35C earlier this week, the Met Office is predicting a drop in temperatures leading up to the weekend.
This week marked the fourth heatwave of 2026, and weather data now hints at the possibility of a fifth one on the horizon.
According to the GFS weather model, temperatures are expected to rise again next Sunday, with highs reaching 31C in Gloucestershire and 29-30C in western and southern regions.
By August 10, temperatures could soar to 34C in the south-east of England, particularly in and around London, with the Midlands experiencing highs of 30-31C.
The GFS model indicates that August 11 might bring scorching conditions, with highs of 32C anticipated in East Anglia and Essex.
Temperature anomaly maps show that England and Wales are likely to experience temperatures well above the seasonal norm, with 15 counties in England potentially seeing temperatures surpassing 32C.
The Met Office forecasts that temperatures will return to near-average levels across most of the UK starting tomorrow. Saturday is expected to start off cool for many, with dry weather and sunny spells, although isolated showers are possible.
Looking ahead to August 3 to August 12, the forecast suggests the potential for warmer periods, especially in the south, alongside bouts of widespread heavy rain and strong winds.
Fortunately, the upcoming heat is not projected to be as intense as recent weeks.
