An Instagram influencer was fatally shot at close range while stopped at a traffic signal in her car. Angie Marcela Ramírez Vargas, aged 27, was driving her Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in Pitalito, situated in the Huila region of southern Colombia, when a motorcyclist attacked her on a Friday night.

The incident occurred as Angie, originally from Acevedo, Huila, was stationary near the traffic lights outside the Gran Plaza San Antonio shopping center. Multiple motorcyclists approached her and reportedly fired shots at her vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Although she managed to drive a short distance, Angie lost control of the car, as reported by local outlet Caracol. Upon stopping, bystanders and emergency responders rushed to her aid. Angie was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her gunshot wounds.

Following the tragic event, the police swiftly initiated a manhunt and secured the area. A 48-year-old suspect, believed to be the passenger who fired the fatal shots, was apprehended while hiding in bushes. The second suspect escaped on foot along a riverbank and is currently evading authorities.

Colonel Javier Alberto Duarte, the Huila Police commander, stated, “We established an operational plan, and with the rapid response of our officers, we successfully apprehended a 48-year-old suspect after an extensive pursuit.”

The Office of the Attorney General of Colombia and national police are actively investigating to identify the remaining suspect and determine the motive behind the murder. Authorities have seized a motorcycle and a firearm believed to have been used in the attack.

It remains uncertain whether Angie had reported any threats or incidents to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Women, according to El Tiempo. Colombia has witnessed 621 femicides since September 2025, as per the Colombian Observatory of Femicides, which cross-references official state data with independent media and community reports.

Angie’s tragic death contributes to Pitalito’s homicide count, which has reached 46 this year, as reported by Ecos del Combeima. The radio station highlighted that her murder was the second recorded in the municipality on that specific day.
