The Royal Family celebrated Queen Camilla’s 79th birthday today by sharing a new photo of the Queen taken by royal photographer Chris Jackson last month in the State Drawing Room at Hillsborough Castle, Northern Ireland. Queen Camilla, adorned in a majestic dark blue dress, complemented her attire with a diamond and sapphire butterfly brooch received by Queen Elizabeth II in February 1977.
The photo was posted on the Royal Family’s Instagram account, extending birthday wishes to Her Majesty. The Prince and Princess of Wales also joined in to send their greetings to the Queen. Alongside marking Camilla’s birthday, the post included an exciting announcement about the Queen’s commitment to enhancing children’s literacy.
In a generous initiative, every Year 6 and P6 child in the UK will receive a special edition of the popular book “Impossible Creatures” by acclaimed author Katherine Rundell this Christmas. This program, in collaboration with the National Literacy Trust, of which the Queen is the Patron, will feature a personal message from the Queen in each book, encouraging children to explore the world of fantasy and imagination.
The Palace revealed that the books will be distributed through schools and libraries, along with additional resources, ensuring access for all eligible children, including those in disadvantaged communities. Author Katherine Rundell expressed her immense honor at the Queen’s choice of her book as the Christmas gift, emphasizing the power of shared stories and ideas in shaping young minds.
Queen Camilla’s dedication to promoting reading and literature is evident through her establishment of the Queen’s Reading Room, offering monthly book recommendations and exclusive content for book enthusiasts. Emphasizing the transformative power of reading, Camilla believes that books provide an escape and a different perspective on life.
Despite initial skepticism about her place in the royal family, Camilla has embraced her royal duties with grace, earning respect and affection from the public over the years. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond praised her resilience and unwavering commitment to her role, highlighting her evolution into a figure of widespread admiration.
